Smooth blends for that perfect wine tour of Piedmont
Piedmont is often known as the Burgundy of Italy. The people who live here love their wine and food and the people who visit love their wine and food too! This is the place where the internationally known ‘slow food’ phenomenon first began. The Piedmont wineries are some of the best in the world and if you appreciate fine wine you couldn’t have picked a better place to tour.
The tastes that you will sample
Boutique wines are what the Piedmont wineries are famous for. The production of wine in this region is more of an art than a living. The red wines are mostly made out of the Nebbiolo grape while the white wines are made out of the Cortese or the Arneis. You cannot leave this region without tasting the Barbaresco Cru and the DOCG Barolo.
An exclusive winery visit
Your tour is incomplete without an exclusive visit to one of the top wineries in the area and that is why we suggest the Massolino winery in Piedmont Italy. Like most other vineyards the Massolino winery in Piedmont Italy too is a family run business that is now on its 3rd generation. Its signature wine is Classic Borolo and has been in production since 1911. Even though this is an entry level wine, it is still sought after the world over. The three more exclusive wines that come from this vineyard are Vigna Rionda, Parafada and Margheria.
Why Piedmont?
Beside the glorious wine and food, Piedmont has a lot to offer. Romantic hills that are covered in mist, medieval castles, the Alps, interesting Piedmont wineries, quaint towns and fishing villages are just some of the reasons that one should visit. There is so much to explore here and not all of it can be done by car. Some of the places are best explored on foot or bicycle. We can organise these too.
