Vineyards in quiet seclusion – the Petra winery in Maremma Italy
If your idea of experiencing some of the finest wines in the world involves doing it in someplace quiet and charming away from the throngs of tourists, then the Maremma Wineries are perfect. The wineries of this region are some of the most respected in the region. However, not all of them are commercialised and open to tourist and therefore this region is less frequented by tourists. If you are a serious wine lover then this wine tour is highly recommended.
Fine wine and an impressive estate
The Petra winery in Maremma Italy is one of our favourites. It is owned by a father – daughter duo and has been in existence since 1997. Located on the Tirreno sea face, vineyards only account for one thirds of this 300 hectares estate. The grapes grown here are Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot. The wines that come from here are known for their freshness and their aroma. Their signature wines are Zingari, Ebo, Quercegobbe and Petra.
Wine and then some
Our wine tours are not only about wine and the Maremma Wineries. We ensure that our guests experience Italy in style. Therefore, also included in our agenda are visits to olive groves where you can taste the different kinds of olive oils and fine dining excursions to experience great home cooked Italian cuisine.
The sights and sounds of the region
This southern region of Tuscany is not only famous for its Maremma Wineries. It has plenty to offer the interested eye. Besides areas of natural beauty like its national parks and beaches, it also has quaint villages, ancient towns, medieval castles, sculpture gardens etc. If you are around during the winter season, you might even experience the annual carnival.
