The Low Tech Success of Balciana
The Sartarelli winery in Marche Italy is a late comer and is a surprise addition to the rolls of major wineries. The winery was nearly unknown until 1994 when the Contrada Balciana was launched. The Verdicchio wine that was produced by the low-tech winery was a balanced and flavorful wine. It has become the icon of Sartarelli and there are dozens of imitators.
Improving the Brand
Although the Marche wineries were established in 1972, they did not actively attempt high quality wine production for two decades. The firm is located near Poggio Dan Marcello. Since the original success with the Balciana, the winery has had the goal of getting the very best from the Verdicchio grape variety. The winery has used clones from its own vineyard to achieve a unique flavor.
Additional Wines
There are now two additional wines that are produced by the Sartarelli winery in Marche Italy. The stock is still Verdicchio wines. The Verdiccio Tralivio is similar to the Balciana, but lighter in nature. The Verdicchio Cassico is the third strong wine that is usually beautifully presented and characteristic of the grapes.
Vineyard Care and Protection
More than on many other estates, the vineyards of the Marche wineries are located on terraces, high above the ocean waters. The care of the vineyards is meticulous and every step of the process is carefully monitored to preserve the quality of the grape harvest. Moisture in the soil is maintained by planting grass between the rows. The yields of the vines are kept low to ensure that each grape is of the highest quality.
The Sartarelli winery in Marche Italy is one of the best of the small wineries. It is a sure winner on any wine tour to the Marche region. We can assist in planning the details of your tour to ensure maximum enjoyment.
